Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening

Having a beautiful bright smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they've been dreaming of with our safe, and simple whitening. In only a day or two we can make your custom whitening trays and provide you with a professional whitening kit with tubes of gel to use with your trays at home. With only a few hours of wear per day, you can help to reach the degree of whiteness that you are looking for. As teeth will re-stain over time, you have the trays to do the occasional touch up treatment when needed, and additional whitening gel is available here at our office.

Tooth Coloured Composite Fillings

Tooth Coloured Composite Fillings

Tooth Coloured fillings are made of resin and other materials. After removing decay, or an old amalgam filling; a new white filling is placed to restore function and prevent further decay or infection.

Onlays/Inlays

Onlays/Inlays

Similar to a filling, these are crafted in a dental laboratory to make an exact fit for the damaged area of the tooth.
Sometimes called a "partial crown," an onlay is cemented onto a tooth under repair and builds up its shape. These can be made of composite resin, porcelain, or gold.

A Dental Bridge

A Dental Bridge

Dr. Taskov may recommend a bridge if you are missing one or more teeth. A bridge consists of crowns which are cemented to the natural teeth, or in some cases to implants, that surround the empty space. These crowns are called the abutments and serve as an anchor for the bridge. These are connected by a tooth/teeth called a pontic, which fills in the missing space. We work together with a dental laboratory to make you a bridge which will replace the missing teeth with a natural look. As with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges. Dr. Taskov and her team can help you to decide what is best for you.

Preventative Care Program

Preventative Care Program

As the saying goes, prevention is the best medicine! With regular exams, Dr. Taskov can monitor your dental health and help you to avoid costly emergency treatment. Children, when seen regularly, can often grow into their adult lives without ever having a cavity.

Priodontal Treatment

Periodontal Treatment

Adults over 35 lose more teeth to gum diseases than from cavities. The best way to prevent periodontal disease is by brushing and flossing regularly at home and having your teeth professionally examined and cleaned at your dental office. Daily home care will help to keep plaque causing bacteria to a minimum, but your hygienist can reach the areas where you are unable to get at with your toothbrush… under the gum line where bacteria goes to work creating plaque and calculus, and decay, which will, over time, start to eat away at the bone and tissues that surround your teeth. Our experienced dental team, together with Dr. Taskov, will recommend a regular schedule for you based on your individual oral health. We want you to keep your natural teeth for a lifetime!

Fillings

Fillings

Fillings restore strength, health and beauty to decayed teeth. Silver mercury amalgam was the first filling created, but today there are more esthetic options for tooth restoration, including tooth coloured composite filling materials and ceramics.
There are a variety of materials that are used in dentistry to restore missing tooth structure. Many people still have silver/mercury fillings in their mouths. Amalgam/Mercury fillings are not very pleasing to the eye, and due to their chemical properties, result in a weaker tooth structure.
With age, the metal of a silver filling expands and contracts. In time this can cause breakage of the natural tooth. Dr. Taskov can help you to identify if you have any older restorations that are starting to leak and break.

Crowns

Crowns

A crown is a laboratory fabricated tooth. They can be made of porcelain, all ceramic, gold, metal, or a combination of different materials. Crowns are used to replace a large filling when there may not be enough tooth structure remaining, to protect a weak tooth from fracturing, or to replace a missing tooth when placed on top of a dental implant. It can also be used to correct problems with a natural tooth’s appearance, shape or alignment.

Veneers

Veneers

Veneers are custom-made shells which are permanently bonded to teeth. They can be made of porcelain or composite resin. This procedure can be used to close spaces or cover badly stained or irregularly shaped teeth. Dr. Taskov may recommend this when the teeth involved are otherwise healthy and have little or no fillings.

Dental Implants, Tooth Replacements

Dental Implants, Tooth Replacements

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth or to help to firmly hold dentures in place. When used to replace a missing tooth it gives the look, feel and function most like a natural tooth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural. The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are placed in the jaw to replace the root of the tooth. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing. This procedure can be done right here in our office! If you are looking at helping to secure a new or existing denture, please feel free to ask our team, we can help to arrange a consultation appointment with a local denturist who will make the dentures for you to fit exactly with our implants.

Endodontics/Root Canal

Endodontics/"Root Canal"

Gone are the days of the dreaded “root canal”. With early detection and modern dentistry, root canal treatment does not have to be uncomfortable at all. Teeth that become unhealthy and inflamed, on the inside can often be saved with endodontic treatment. The tooth is opened up and cleaned out, and in most cases this can be done right here at our office, often in just one appointment.

Extractions

Extractions

If you require teeth to be removed, Dr. Taskov and her team are experienced with both simple and more complex surgical extractions. Once an appropriate exam is completed, we can help you to decide what would be best for you… having the work done in our office with regular localized freezing, or we can refer you to one of the oral surgeons in the surrounding area.
